Mission and Values
Mission
Our mission is to create a lifelong passion for learning through experiential education in the natural environment. We believe that interacting with nature and connecting with community encourages a sense of place, awakens curiosity and creates healthy minds and bodies.
What Makes Us Unique?
We max out at 18 campers per week. That's an 9:1 camper to teacher ratio.
Camp Leaders, Heiko and Kiyomi, have an extensive educational background with over 20 years of teaching experience.
Snacks and lunches are provided.
Practicing Life Skills - Campers will prepare their own daily lunches.
We bring in or visit community members and businesses (fitness instructors, artists, entrepreneurs, etc) to enrich our curriculum and the young campers' experiences.
We utilize our beautiful natural environment to deepen our camper's appreciation of their local community.
We know camps can be expensive, so we offer a parent payment plan.
Coastal Cove Learning encourages students to become ecologically literate, responsible citizens in an experiential learning environment. Our summer program utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to promote the appreciation of our natural outdoor surroundings and the values of collaborative learning. Our aim is to teach students environment studies and develop natural science and life skills.
Values
To promote a community that respects and supports individual learning and growth. We model servant leadership, kindness, and inclusivity to all.
To foster teamwork and self-confidence. Through the outdoor learning experience we encourage students to sustain personal improvements and new skills.
To endorse environmental awareness and stewardship. We emphasize students' role as environmental stewards and the importance of being aware of their impact on the world around them.
To create science literacy. We are committed to meet standard curriculum requirements and striving to expand students' scientific vocabulary and knowledge.
